20 years ago we started raising awareness about child abuse and domestic violence. Two decades later, we are no longer willing to excuse this behavior. Today we are just beginning to understand the scope and depth of elder abuse. Let's hope the path toward change is a lot shorter this time around.
An Age for Justice; Elder Abuse in America shows families and individuals whose lives have been turned upside down by elder abuse. The video provides stark proof of the financial, emotional, physical and psychological impact of the violence and abuse that an estimated five million Americans face every day.
The video was produced by the National Council on Aging and WITNESS, to shine the light on what one interviewee called a dark mark on our humanity.
